Last night we had the pleasure of hosting a wine + cheese + chit-chat at Salt Tasting Room for the new Chicks to meet/ get to know one another; over a fabulous selection of charcuterie and vino, the five of us girls that now make up AGTCK had a ton of laughs over inspirations, ‘war’ stories and good old fashioned girl talk. We are both proud and excited to share our new Design posse with you – we’ve definitely got a dream team on our hands!
At a young age Karen became curious and inquisitive of the people and places surrounding her. After successfully completing her education at Kwantlen Polytechnical University she dove into the design industry making a splash as a designer. After graduating with a Bachelor of Interior Design, she immediately started working for a national hospitality design firm. The diversity of projects allowed Karen and her dexterity to travel across Canada and work with some highly talented architects and trades. In design, Karen is practical, eclectic and playful. As Harry Bertoia once said, ‘The urge for good design is the same as the urge to go on living.’
Inspired by the connection between design and every aspect of the environment, Sara believes that style and sustainability are not mutually exclusive. Creating a living space for any client should come with an awareness of environmental impact, in addition to personal well being, without sacrificing style and functionality. Constantly up to date on the latest “green” fabrics, furnishings and finishes, Sara has a creative eye for a wide array of design styles. Her education in Fashion Marketing from Kwantlen Polytechnic University and Interior Design from BCIT combine to provide a solid foundation for integrating the important aspects of fashion and interiors to create beautiful, stylish and cohesive spaces. Sara’s recent completion of her LEED Green Associate Accreditation, brings a whole new facet to chic, healthy and eco-friendly living environments.
Megan has been building up her passion for beautiful design since she was small. Now a student of interior design at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, her interest focuses on interior spaces and the individuals who experience them. On Vancouver island Megan worked through high school with a focus on creative arts, such as pottery and textiles, finding inspiration from the natural, beautiful landscape around her. Other inspirations and lifestyle ideas come from an unforgettable year spent in France absorbing the history of interior design and learning the true meaning of “tres chic”. Since arriving in 2010, Vancouver has been the perfect backdrop for studying both in and out of school. This Chick cannot wait to mix up eclectic combinations of nature, glamour, culture and personality to create beautifully unique environments.
